I want to create pieces that speak to people, objects that are beloved and carry meaning. While also making sure they are made with integrity to be worn and cherished for generations to come”

-Colleen.E.Matthews

Colleen.E.Matthews is a New England based artist. She grew up with a passion for creating and collecting objects. That passion drew her to study sculpture at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts. It was there that she fell in love with metal smithing. The process of creating objects with fire seemed so alluring, an age old art form that still was very true to its origin. Upon graduating the Museum School she worked as a woodworker or a gardener and often moonlighted as a jeweler. In those years she felt like she needed to learn more of the traditional art of jewelry making and enrolled at North Bennet Street School, one of Americas oldest trade schools. It was there she was able to fine tune her hand skills and learn more techniques in stone setting and fabrication. She has since worked for several jewelers in the Boston area, before starting her own collection of jewelry.
